Cloth pads have been around for a long time although seem to be having a bit of a resurgence of late with women being more eco-conscious and more concerned with their health and wellbeing. There is so much waste created from disposable menstrual products which not only impacts our planet, but also our wallet.
Using reusable products is not only easy, but once you get used to the idea, it is convenient and much more comfortable.
How many pads do I need?
You change your reusable pad as regularly as you would a disposable pad, every couple of hours or so depending on your flow. Taking into consideration your cycle length, you may find that you need 15-20 pads to last a full cycle or less (10-12) if you want to wash every day or every couple of days during your cycle. It's also a good idea to get a variety of pads; liners and smaller pads for the beginning and end of your cycle, heavy pads and overnight pads.
If cloth pads aren't right for you - have you considered a menstrual cup?
Your eco-alternative to using tampons that will save you heaps of money while doing your bit towards saving the planet from disposable waste products.
